It was a typically controlled performance of England With a slow first half that saw an early goal from Malta defender Enrico Pepe be the only difference at the end of the first half.
But after some tactical changes, his men looked livelier and added a second goal through Harry Kane.

Jordan Pickford – 6
He did what he had to do when called upon, but was rarely asked to make tackles. It’s hard to imagine Southgate’s team without Pickford barking at his defenders between the posts.
Kieran Trippier – 6
Nothing amazing, but nothing terrible from experienced professionals. He started the match at right-back, but was switched to the left in the first half.

Very passive, but usually a calm client. He did his job of moving the ball well in midfield. He still got some stick from the small pockets of fans when he was substituted.
Phil Foden – 8
He shone from the beginning with his mazy runs and dancing feet. His surge forward led to an own goal which opened the scoring when Enrico Pepe converted a cross. While he was also involved in setting up Kane’s goal.

Marcus Rashford – 5
He struggled in the first half with no real full-back behind him. He was substituted at the start of the second half after a collision with Alexander-Arnold. He is not in good form with Manchester United and is struggling with England as well.
Harry Kane – 7
It was booked for diving, but you couldn’t stop it because it looked blatantly crowded. typical Harry Kane Performance with aim for hunters to boot.

Alternatives
Bukayo Saka (HT to Tomori) – 7
He always terrorized defenders when on the wing and did well to put the ball on a plate for Harry Kane to make it 2-0.
Kyle Walker (HT to Gallagher) – 6
Replacing Walker allowed England to play with two suitable full-backs. The treble-winning star always looks good in an England shirt.
Declan Rice (60 for Henderson) – 7
Great individual goal from Arsenal The man could have finished a drive with a similar performance if not for VAR. A powerful attack ended with a powerful shot, but the ball went past the offside Kane.
Cole Palmer (60 for Rashford) – 5
Maybe nervous about it being his debut Palmer couldn’t make his mark right away, but he had some great moments in extra time. He hopes to be able to play again on Monday against North Macedonia.
