Bruce Buffer is the legendary voice of the UFC octagon – but sometimes he lets his fists do the talking.
Buffer has been a UFC broadcaster since 1997 It has become synonymous with MMA fight nights.
But for nearly two decades, he has been involved in a scrap of his own With former UFC star Frank Trigg in the elevator.
And their boss Dana White — the president of the UFC — was there to witness it all.
White and Buffer recall the infamous brawl during the UFC View the Fight Pass Fightlore series.
When Trigg entered the elevator with Buffer, White and his security guard were there as well.
The former ranked fighter began discussing a pay raise with the UFC president when Buffer interrupted to fill White’s hour.
Then – all hell broke loose.

“All of a sudden, I got shot in the neck by the wrist. I turned around and said, ‘Frank, you hit me. Why the hell did you hit me?’

“He said the wrong thing to me. He said ‘Well what are you going to do about it?’ I just shot back and said ‘Bob, Bob’ – I punched him twice.
“Frank came back at me, and he hit me harder, and I had to hit him harder. He was on! Ten floors. What would that take – 15, 20, 25 seconds?”
“For all ten floors, we kept going and going until the point where one of my friends knelt down and got on his knees!
“Dana was facing the elevator, and I don’t remember seeing him.
“I was too busy concentrating on what was happening and the adrenaline was pumping and then the doors started opening.
“I raised my arms in the air and said, ‘Frank, we’re done!’
“I looked down, and there was blood up and down my shirt, and my thumb was peeled back, and you could see the bone in my thumb.”
I went back to the corner of the elevator and watched and let him go.

White added: “Frank Trigg, at the time, was a ranked fighter in the UFC! The karate just cut him in the throat.
“Don’t talk while I’m talking,” Trig said. I was like, “Oh ***.”
“Buffer attacked him and it was working. They started throwing punches at each other and I was like ‘Oh my God!’
“I went back to the corner of the elevator and watched him and let him go.
“They stopped fighting as soon as the elevator doors opened in the lobby! Buffer’s hand was cut off from Frank Trigg’s watch.
“These two shook hands and apologized to each other, and Puffer went to the hospital to get stitches.”
Buffer, who had to stop fighting at the age of 32 due to injury, revealed that he and Trig remain friends to this day.
Trigg, 51, last fought in Enough In 2010, he lost to Matt Serra, and would retire after one year.
Buffer, now 66, first began announcing for the UFC in 1996, but he proved to White that day that he knew what he was talking about.
He said: “I think one of the things I really liked was that Dana saw that he didn’t have a weak person announcing his fighters in the octagon!”
